“Cherish Water Campus” Integrated Education Programme - Primary School (IEP) Details

What are the main contents of IEP?

Through IEP, WSD aims at enhancing students' knowledge of water resources and raising their awareness of water conservation; encouraging them to put water conservation into practice in school and at home, as well as conveying the message to their peers, family members and further to the community.

The IEP comprises a teaching kit and a set of activities kit on the topic of water resources and water conservation, as well as a series of activity and competition to promote water conservation.

Most of the programme contents are related to water resources and are therefore parts of the environmental protection education, we suggest schools to select and adopt suitable materials from IEP in General Studies lessons, Life Education lessons, Personal Growth lessons, Class periods, morning assemblies or any other occasions.
Who are the target audiences of IEP? Is it suitable for all Primary students?
The stakeholders of IEP are whom involve in primary education, including Primary 1 to 6 students, principals, teachers and other school staff, as well as parents. Most of the activities in the programme are suitable for all Primary students, except a few of them may require some background knowledge or physically demanding. Is IEP organised by Education Bureau? Is it compulsory for all Primary students?
The IEP is not organised by the Education Bureau and participation is on a voluntary basis.
IEP consist of activities in three phases. Is it necessary for schools to organise or take part in activities under all three phases in order to join IEP?
Not necessary. According to actual situation and teaching plan, schools may select and adopt suitable materials in any occasions. Participation of any single activity in the IEP will be considered joining IEP.

IEP Reward Mechanism

What has to be done in order to receive the certificate from WSD and be eligible for prizes?

IEP comprises 26 activities. Schools participating in at least 3 activities in a single year will be accredited as “Water Conservation Campus” and awarded with the “Water Conservation Campus” banner.

Upon completion of the activity, school shall submit the relevant information through “Cherish water Campus” Teacher’s Portal for Primary School to WSD for record. A certain amount of “water drops” will be obtained after the proofs of the activity are verified by WSD. Schools will be ranked according to the number of “water drops” that they have accumulated within a school year, with respect to the districts they belong to.

Sponsoring Bodies, Principals, teachers, and students actively participating in the IEP will have a chance to win the “Excellent School Sponsoring Body Award”, “Winning School Sponsoring Body Award”, “Outstanding Leadership Award”, “Outstanding Project Planning Award”, “Outstanding Mentor Award”, “Water Conservation Star Award” or “Water Conservation Pioneer Award”, etc.

IEP Application Method

If our school is interested in the IEP, how can we apply?
All primary schools interested in joining IEP can register as “Cherish Water Campus” Teacher’s Portal for Primary School (Teacher’s Portal) user by using the school verification code. If your school hasn’t received the code, please contact us by email: waterconservation@wsd.gov.hk.
What are the functions of Teacher’s Portal?

Teacher’s Portal is a one-stop online platform to facilitate schools in implementing IEP and tallying the collected “Water Drops”. In this Teacher’s Portal, you can

  • plan the activities themed on water conservation;
  • upload proof of activities;
  • view the collected “Water Drops”;
  • use the teaching resources;
  • submit the application for School Roadshow and Game Booths Borrowing; and
  • submit the Report of Programme Review and Nomination Form
How can I login the Teacher’s Portal?
    • First Time Login (Sign up for Teacher’s Portal Account)

      You shall sign up before using the Teacher’s Portal. Click the TEACHER’S PORTAL on the main page of “Cherish Water Campus – Primary School”. Then click “First Time Use/ Activate School Account” on the login page of Teacher’s Portal. In the Sign Up page, sign up Teacher’s Portal account by entering the school verification code, the district of school and teacher-in-charge information and create the password.

    • Subsequent Login

      To login, you can select the district of school, school name and enter your password on the login page of Teacher’s Portal.

Note: Each school will only need to sign up Teacher’s Portal account once.
How can schools be informed the school verification code?
WSD has informed all primary schools in Hong Kong about the school verification code in early August 2020 by post. If your school hasn’t received the letter, please contact us by email: waterconservation@wsd.gov.hk.
Can individual sign up the Teacher’s Portal?
No. Every school will have a dedicated account for the Teacher’s Portal and a teacher-in-charge shall be assigned to manage the account.
I forgot my Teacher’s Portal password. How do I reset it?
Please click “Forgot Password?” on the Login page and enter your registered email. When you receive the password reset email, please click the link attached in the email to reset the password.
How to change the account information in Teacher’s Portal?
Please click “My Profile” after login the Teacher’s Portal. You can edit principal’s name, information of the teacher-in-charge and change the account password.
I still haven’t received any email from the Teacher’s Portal. Why?
Your email client may have classified Teacher’s Portal emails as junk mails. Please check the junk mailbox of your email client to accept all emails from no-reply@waterconservation.gov.hk.
When can I start to plan and apply the activities themed on water conservation?
For every new school year, the Teacher’s Portal will accept planning of IEP schedule and application for school roadshow and game booths in early August. You can click “My Schedule” after login the Teacher’s Portal and plan water conservation activities according to the needs of your classes with the teaching resources provided by WSD.
What is the procedure for application for School Roadshow and Game Booths Borrowing?

Please select “My Schedule” after login. You can click “ENROLL” in the column of School Roadshow and Game Booths Borrowing under “Phase 1: Exploring New Knowledge”, then click “APPLY NOW” under the activities name and fill in the form for submission. Successful application will be confirmed by email within one day.

Note:
1. Each School shall submit the application form for School Roadshow at least 30 days in advance of the schedule date.
2. Each school shall submit one application for School Roadshow and Game Booths Borrowing in every school year. School may apply for a maximum of two sessions in each application.

When will be the deadline for the submission of proof of activities?
Teacher’s Portal will stop receiving the submission of proof after 31st July every year. If the school cannot submit the proof before the deadline due to any reasons, prior notification in writing by email must be made to the WSD. Any approval of such submission shall be entirely at the discretion of WSD.
How to amend the details of the online application or proof of activities after submission?
Schools wishing to amend the details of the online application or proof of activities after submission should send a written request to WSD by email.
How can I obtain the “Water Drops”?
Schools should submit the proof of activities (details refer to the Submission of Information List) in “My Schedule” of Teacher’s Portal for our review upon the completion of each activity. You can view the total “Water Drops” in the main page of Teacher’s Portal or “Water Drops” obtained in each phases in “My Schedule” after approval.
What are the formats and file size required for the proofs of the activities to be uploaded?

School can upload a maximum of 20 MB file in one submission. If the total size of files to be uploaded exceed the limits, please compress the files beforehand, or upload on an online platform for file storage and provide the download link for submission.

The following file formats are accepted for online submission:

  • General Document: PDF, DOC, DOCX, PPT, PPTX, XLS or XLSX
  • Images: JPEG or PNG
  • Audio: MP3
  • Video: AVI, WMV or MPEG4

Supports, Teacher Training Workshops and Other Enquiries

Can we request WSD to send staff over to deliver talks or hold exhibitions?
If schools wish to invite WSD staff over to deliver talks or hold exhibitions, they may submit a written request to WSD by mailing to 46/F., Immigration Tower, 7 Gloucester Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong, email to waterconservation@wsd.gov.hk or by fax at 2802 2579. Written reply will be made shortly.
Are there any training workshops for teachers?
In order to provide the IEP details and updates, WSD organises Teacher Training Workshop at every school year. Through the talk given by WSD staff and sharing from the teachers of IEP school, it is hoped to enhance the teachers’ awareness of water resources and water conservation.
What kind of support will WSD provide to IEP participating schools?
Upon receipt of application forms from school, we will contact with schools and provide supports such as consultation over phone and on-site assistance according to school's needs.
