“Water Conservation” Adventurous Challenge cum Carnival

To encourage teenagers to cherish water, the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) and the Water Supplies Department (WSD) jointly organised the “Water Conservation” Adventurous Challenge cum Carnival at the Plover Cove Reservoir for the first time. The event was blessed with fine weather where participants from the youth category and the open category exerted themselves to the utmost to complete the team match in a relay of running, water conservation tasks and canoeing. WSD deployed three teams to join the open category. The competition between the joint team by the representatives from HKFYG and WSD, and the celebrity team comprising both serving and former athletes marked the climax of the day. Director of Water Supplies, Mr Enoch LAM, shared the current situation of water scarcity and the increasing global water demand whereas the Vice-chairman of Tai Po District Council, Ms WONG Pik Kiu, shared her useful water saving tips with the participants.

There was a carnival including game booths and exhibitions as well to promote water conservation. The event provided an interactive platform for WSD and the younger generation to join hands to promulgate water conservation to protect our precious water resources.
