"Hong Kong Water Race 2019" was successfully held on 14 April 2019. The race has been organised by Wofoo Social Enterprises, co-organised by WSD and The Open University of Hong Kong. Reached its seventh year, the Race was embraced again at the Tin Shui Wai with the route covering WSD's new Water Resources Education Centre - H2OPE Centre. Around 4,000 participants competed in city orienteering by completing tasks related to water at designed checkpoints. The Race arouse public awareness of water crisis and facilitated participants to learn more about the concept of water footprints, thereby inspiring them to adopt appropriate water conservation practices in daily life, in order to make wise decision on sustainable way of living, and conserve the precious water for our next generation.

Officiated at the opening ceremony, Under Secretary for Development, Mr. LIU Chun-san and Director of Water Supplies, Mr. WONG Chung-Leung encouraged the runners to cherish water resources. In addition to taking part in the Race, WSD set up exhibition panels to introduce H2OPE Centre, as well as a photo booth and workshop to convey the message of water conservation to the public.
