The Water Supplies Department organises the "Innovative Water Efficient Showerhead Design Competition" in partnership with the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, which aims to promote water saving devices and raise public awareness on the importance of water conservation, as well as encourage young generations to unleash their creativity and develop their ambitions in design by gathering innovative showerhead designs through the competition.
To introduce and elaborate the competition mechanism and assessment criteria of entries to interested parties, two briefing sessions were held at INDEX, Kwun Tong on 16 December 2019 and 18 January 2020 respectively.
Targeting potential participants of "Professional Section", the first briefing session was well attended by many industry practitioners and corporate representatives. Mr. Jimi KWOK, a well-known product designer, was invited as the guest speaker of the briefing session. He exchanged his ideas of integrating innovation and eco-friendly elements in product design with attendees.
In the briefing session for "Academic Section", Professor Eric YIM, Chairman of Hong Kong Design Centre, was invited as the guest speaker. Professor YIM shared the concepts and trends of customer-driven in product design through introducing several adventurous and futuristic furniture to over 70 teachers and students in the session. Students actively invited Professor YIM to share his design experience and tips by raising questions which every attendee had learnt a lot from the interactive moment.
