Introduction

The Water Supplies Department (WSD) strives to promote water conservation to the public through various channels. In particular, WSD has devoted much effort to school education with the aim of nurturing a water conservation culture amongst the younger generation. WSD launched the “Water: Learn & Conserve – Teaching Kit for Liberal Studies” for secondary education in 2011 and “Cherish Water Campus” Integrated Education Programme - Primary School in 2015/16 school year, as well as further extended the pilot "Cherish Water Campus" Kindergarten Education Programme to kindergartens in 2017/18 school year. All three programmes provide a wide range of resources and interactive activities facilitating learning in a progressive way, enable students get to know more about water as a precious resource and necessity for sustaining life on earth thereby inspiring them to think about the principle of saving water and develop civic responsibility.

“Cherish Water Campus” Water Saving Week 2022

In order to further encourage students to practise water saving habits and improve their understanding of water saving concepts, “Cherish Water Campus” Water Saving Week 2022 (the Week) will be held from 11 to 15 July 2022*. We encourage all primary schools and kindergartens in Hong Kong to call on students to practise water conservation in accordance with the theme of each day and to participate in below activities within the week to win fabulous prizes.

11 July (Monday) WATER + HOME It's time to change your water using habits at home! Shorten shower time and turn off the tap while brushing your teeth or washing your face.
12 July (Tuesday) WATER + COMMUNITY Try to note the water saving devices around you. We should save water at home, as well as in the community. Only ask for a glass of water as you need when dining out.
13 July (Wednesday) WATER + LIFE The crisis of water shortage is a global challenge. Let's prime a green life, save water and wisely consume food/products that require less water for production.
14 July (Thursday) WATER + CLIMATE To learn the impact of climate change on water resources. Disseminate the messages of protecting water resources and combating climate change.
15 July (Friday) WATER + SUSTAINABILITY Can you imagine a day without water? Review your water using habits with your family and friends. Let's explore more ways to save water!

Activities

In addition to the individual awards of each activity (see each activity page for details), "The Most Active Participation Award" will be awarded to 3 primary schools with the most number of participating students.
